The Anti-terror police have launched investigations into the shooting of A general Service Unit (GSU) officers at the Wilson Airport on Saturday night.
The deceased GSU officer, Constable Stephen Mukangi, is believed to have been shot at a close range before his AK47 riffle was stolen.
His colleague on the other hand was shot in the leg but was lucky to get away although his AK47 rifle was stolen too.
According to a report by The Standard Media, one of the main objectives of the detectives is to identify the motive of the killers.
A statement from one of the police officers revealed that the killers had asked for assistance from the GSU officers claiming that their car had developed a problem.
“They told the GSU officers they needed assistance from them at the scene where their car had developed mechanical problems. They claimed to be police officers,” a police officer told The Standard Media.
The GSU officers then escorted the suspected killers to the alleged location of the car before they were attacked on the way.
The fight intensified prompting the attackers to open fire hence killing Constable Mukangi and injuring his colleague.
Langata OCPD Gregory Mutiso and other police officers visited the scene of the crime where they recovered two magazines with 60 bullets and spent cartridges.
