Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has sneered Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru after she slammed allies of Deputy President William Ruto.
In a function in Kagio on Tuesday, the county boss accused Tanga Tanga team of disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta and sabotaging his bid to unite the country through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Waiguru warned that Uhuru was ready to cut ties with them and embrace people who were helping his cause.
“There is no way the President can continue working with members of Jubilee (Party) who abuse him and frustrate (his) efforts to have BBI succeed,” she said, according to Nation.
Reacting to the remarks, Kimani Ngunjiri wondered how BBI was uniting the country when threats of sidelining and punishing some people were being issued.
"Building bridges indeed. It is just unbelievable. We are now joining you and let's see what bridge we shall build with you. Kenyans are watching!" he tweeted in reference to move by Tanga Tanga to join BBI rallies being spearhead by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Waiguru further asked Mt Kenya to rally behind the BBI, arguing it has recommendations which will benefit the region immensely if brought to action.
"The BBI will ensure that more resources are allocated to improve coffee, tea, rice and dairy farming in the region. There will also be employment for our youths," she said.
The Governor has been appointed as the representative of Central Kenya in the BBI national steering committee.
