Tycoon Ali Punjani has been discharged from a hospital in India where he was undergoing treatment.
The businessman has been admitted at the Bandra-based Asian Heart Institute after his condition became critical.
Punjani who is a suspected drug baron was released at 1:30 pm local time on Thursday, August 15 after he was taken through surgery.
Reports also indicate that police in Mumbai have been alerted over the case Punjani is facing in court back at home.
“A senior doctor from the hospital confirmed at mid-day that Punjani had been discharged,” reports read in part.
The source also indicates that the billionaire boarded a chauffeur-driven car alongside a woman, whose identity has not been disclosed to a hotel a few miles from the hospital where he had been admitted.
Journalists tried to interview the businessman but he declined to meet them after he was discharged from the facility.
Police in Mumbai are reportedly working together with Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), an INTERPOL agency to determine whether to arrest him or not.
The new development comes after it emerged that the tycoon funded two presidential candidates, 10 governors and several members of parliament during the last general election.
Police raided his home in Mombasa and arrested two foreigners and his wife before they were released after the court found no evidence to charge them.
