Baktash and Ibrahim Akasha are currently in the United States following their charging and guilty pleas to charges revolving around dealing in narcotics.

However, emerging details now show that the brothers also traded in guns with the Al-Shabaab, as was revealed by the drugs empire point man Vijay Goswami in court on Friday.

Goswami said that the brothers personally dealt with their suppliers in Somalia, claiming that he heard them bragging about it to their unnamed Italian associate at their Mombasa home before their arrest.

He revealed that the trade was well-choreographed, adding that the keen eyes of Kenyan officials at the Mombasa Port could not spot the weapons being brought in on ships.

The weapons traded in, he said, included machine guns and grenades, a testimony that was on Friday submitted in court by US Attorney Geoffrey Barman, reports the Standard.

He said that Ibrahim would daringly travel to Somalia to meet his suppliers, adding that in the day of making the discovery, the brothers had paraded the weapons for the Italian to see.

They have since been found guilty of drug dealing and are awaiting their sentencing by the US court.
