Speaking in Matungu on Saturday while donning an Islamic gown, the outspoken Deputy President Dr William Ruto-backing politician said that he would take stones again if it means defending his dignity and that of his community.

"I saw in the internet people asking why Khalwale had stones, I had stones because I was defending Mariga and my community (Naskia wanaume wengine waoga wanaandika kwa mtandao ilikuwa aje Khalwale alikuwa na mawe, nuilikuwa na mawe because I was defending Mariga and my community), " the former Kakamega senator said

"If it is going to take me holding a simple stone so that I defend my life and the dignity of my community, then I will take it again and again until some people can respect the Luhya people of the Republic of Kenya," he added.

The outspoken politician was mocked and roundly criticised for defending himself with stones with his detractors saying that the gesture was unbecoming of a leader of his stature.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth was declared the victor of the 7th, November by-election.

A section of Jubilee politicians has cited the experience that Khalwale had in Kibra as evidence that the by-election was marred by violence.
