President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday evening held talks with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Sochi, Russia.

The President met Puttin during the grand opening of the Russia-Africa Summit . State House has confirmed the meeting between the two leaders.

“Last evening, President Uhuru Kenyatta was officially received by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin when he attended the welcoming ceremony of the inaugural Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, Russia,” State House.

Uhuru and Puttin discussed a wide range of issues during the meeting. Among the key issues addressed were strengthening the ties between the two nations.  

Kenya is seeking to take advantage of the relations with Russia to empower its population. Uhuru wooed Russian investors to invest their money in Kenya.

"Bilateral ties between Kenya & Russia have strengthened over the years and the Kenyan delegation will be pursuing trade and investment partnerships with focus on the #Big4Agenda priority areas of health, affordable housing, food security and manufacturing,” State House added.

African Union Representative for Infrastructure Raila Amolo Odinga was among those who accompanied President Kenyatta to Russia for the summit. 

Before the summit, Puttin outlined that he is ready to work with African nation to empower them as well as Russia.
