The High Court on Thursday gave lawyer Philip Murgor permission to represent Sarah Wairimu, the prime suspect in Dutch businessman Tob Cohen’s murder case.
KBC reports that Lady Justice Stella Mutuku dismissed arguments that there is a conflict of interest that led to calls for Murgor to leave the case.
The former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) presented documents to show that he had quit as a government prosecutor before he took over Wairimu's case.
Lady Justice Mutuku in her ruling also said that the complainants failed to provide evidence to show that Murgor had presided over criminal cases before he took over the billionaire’s brutal murder probe.
She that Murgor had proven beyond doubt that he is fit to represent the widow of the deceased tycoon in the case in court as she fights for freedom.
The accused has finally taken a plea and affirmed that she is innocent.
Police recovered a body of Cohen inside a septic tank in their Kitsuru home in Nairobi.
The tycoon was laid to rest in a private function that was held as per the Jewish tradition. The court allowed Wairimu to attend the burial.
