Uhuru met a host of MPs from Mt Kenya following weeks of volatile succession politics which have divided the region into two rival camps.

Before Uhuru's arrival, Ruto's team took photos together and none of them was allowed to address the gathering.

After the meeting, the team sent well-synchronized messages perhaps to signal their unstoppable mission.

"Sagana was good. The region is united," wrote Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, a close ally of DP Ruto.

"Sagana was Good. The Region is United," said Cate Waruguru, the vocal Laikipia Woman Representative.

Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Ngirici wrote "SAGANA WAS GOOD. THE REGION IS UNITED. Ama namna gani my friends?"

The team has been campaigning for Ruto, arguing that Mt Kenya region owes the deputy president support in the 2022 polls.

Uhuru who attended the four-hour meeting asked the team to oppose the Building Bridges Initiative report honourably without necessarily abusing one another.

The Head of State said he was not aware of the content of the BBI, adding that he wouldn't mind serving as prime minister.

“I do not know the contents of the BBI report yet I hear people claiming Uhuru Kenyatta wants to become the Prime Minister of Kenya. I wouldn’t mind being in leadership in such a post, though let us deal with the current situation first,” Mr Kenyatta said.
