Addressing the media on Sunday, Wetangula said that the current regime has neglected the counties in this region as far as development is concerned.

He argued that the government has been initiating projects in other parts of the country but has not bothered to do so for the Western region. The senator said that it is a high time for the Western region to benefit from the fruits of devolution.

"As a national leader, I support development programs and projects anywhere and everywhere in the country but it is worth noting that the Jubilee government has completely neglected the Western region of Kenya," he said in part.

Wetangula said that some of the counties that have been neglected by the current government include: West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga and Busia counties.

The remarks come at a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his commitment to implement the Big Four Agenda before he leaves office in 2022. President Kenyatta has urged politicians to stop engaging in early campaigns at the expense of development.
