Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale has sent a stern warning to members of county assembly in Garissa against passing the Punguza Mizigo Bill.
Speaking in Garissa County on Saturday, called on the MCAs and residents to resist the attempt to reduce the number of constituencies in Garissa as the bill proposed.
"You try passing that bill when it comes to the Garissa Couinty Assembly and you will have to deal with me. (Wewe jaribu kupitisha hio mswada ikikuja hii Bunge la Garissa alafu wewe utapambana na mimi kama jamii), " Duale fired.
The outspoken Leader of Majority in National Assembly said that the only positive thing about the bill was its push for more funds to be channeled to the 47 counties.
He called on leaders from pastoral communities not to embrace the bill.
Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot, the authour of the bill, contends that it will significantly reduce the burden on Kenyan taxpayers who have to part with billions of shillings to pay their elected leaders.
If passed, the bill will reduced the number of elected leaders and focus resources on the grassroots with MCAs taking charge.
The Punguza Mizigo Bill has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans.
