Joshua Ogachi, a suspect in the murder of police officer Robina Moraa, failed to take plea on Tuesday.
This comes after Mr Ogachi tried to kill himself by taking poison.
State Counsel Meshack Rop informed the High Court Deputy Registrar Grace Sitati that medical doctors at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) recommended that the suspect be admitted due to his health status.
“Your honour, the suspect has been admitted at MTRH in serious condition and that is why he has not been brought in court to take plea over the murder case," said Rop.
Rop made the remarks during a court proceeding at the Eldoret High Court on Tuesday.
"I, therefore, file an application to be given ten more days to allow the suspect to stabilise before he is availed in court,” the State counsel said.
The deputy High Court registrar directed that Langas OCS provide security to the suspect who is admitted at MTRH with immediate effect pending his appearance in court.
Joshua Ogachi is accused of having stubbed Robina Moraa who was found murdered in her house in Annex, in the outskirts of Eldoret Town on Thursday, last week.
Ogachi was nabbed at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru on Saturday, where he had gone to seek medical attention, after a failed suicide attempt.
