The body of Emmanuel Kemboi who drowned in Kipkaren River has been retrieved after 14 days of searching.
Addressing the media on Monday, Kemboi's aunt Loice Sitienei said the body was recovered at Kaptoro Bridge in Chemalal, 10 kilometers from where he drowned.
“It has been 14 days of agony, but we thank God that his remains have been found, so we may give him a decent send-off,” she said.
The aunt appreciated efforts by all parties involved in the recovery mission.
“I want to thank the county and national government, divers, the community, and everyone who helped us during this hard moment May the Almighty bless you,” she said.
Sitienei, however, faulted both the county and national government water preparedness, and urged them to up their game since they don’t have equipment, and in case of emergency, families are left to deal with the problem on their own.
She urged parents to be alert and take good care of their children, especially during this long holiday, emphasising on the need to know whereabouts of their children at all times.
According to her, the deceased was with other boys along the river when he slid and drowned.
