Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has been arrested amid dispelling the rumor.
The lawmaker was arrested at around 3 am Wednesday after police camped at her home following the death of one person after she stormed the home Ganda Ward ODM candidate Ruben Katana.
Jumwa is set to be grilled over the fracas that led to the death of the man, who happens to be Katana’s uncle. The police raided the home of the lawmaker after she refused to grant them access and arrested her.
The altercation started when she stormed the home of the aspirant with her team ahead of the by-election on Thursday.
Jumwa lamented that Malindi Sub-County police commander Philip Wambugu took too long to act despite raising concern over the illegal campaigns. She questioned why Katana was meeting agents and supporters when campaigns were over.
"Campaigns ended on Monday at 6pm as per the law and once I received reports that the ODM candidate was holding an illegal meeting, I decided to go and protest why police were not doing their duty," said the MP, as quoted by Daily Nation.
The lawmaker also said that the gun was fired after she left the home of the aspirant. She insisted that she had done nothing wrong after she was arrested.
