Political analyst Herman Manyora now says that forces allied to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) need to handle their ongoing rivalry with the Punguza Mizigo bill with care.
Speaking on Saturday, Manyora observed that there indeed exists a supremacy battle between the two, considering they are pushing for separate constitutional changes.
This is with the consideration that Punguza Mizigo is pushing for a reduction of elective representation while the BBI is pushing for among others, an extended executive.
According to Manyora, BBI is very likely to prevail, despite Punguza Mizigo enjoying massive support from Kenyans, since it BBI enjoys the backing of the leading political figures.
"Since Punguza Mizigo is going nowhere with all respect for to Ekuru Aukot, with all sympathy die to Kenyans who support it, because am sure this Punguza Mizigo initiative is very popular on the ground. But unfortunately, the big boys who run the show will shoot it down," he said.
He made the remarks on his YouTube analysis channel Take It or Leave It on Saturday morning.
And though be observed that there will be more attempts from the BBI allies to further crash Punguza Mizigo which is turning into a threat, they should not overdo it.
He advised the side led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to not be seen as fighting Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot too much.
Otherwise, he noted, Raila and Uhuru will come out as opposed to the will of Kenyans, most of whom he said are in support of Punguza Mizigo, which might cost them going forward.
"But as they shoot it down, I have an advice for them; remember shooting down Punguza Mizigo is also an attempt to tell the people their voice doesn't matter. When you overdo it you could invite and attract citizen's wrath," he added.
