The Government has finally taken action against Kakamega female police officer who was captured on tape lamenting being mistreated by her bosses.
The female cop, Jane Asimisiti last week thrust into the limelight in a viral video where she decried being mistreated by her seniors for the last 17 years for allegedly marrying a fellow cop from the Luhya community.
National Police Service Commission Chairman Eliud Kinuthia on Tuesday while weighing in on the case said Asimisiti has been sent leave to pave way for a probe into the matter.
Speaking in Mombasa Kinuthia said the service has also ordered for a psychiatric evaluation to ascertain if she is in the right mental state.
“We would also want a comprehensive medical report to ascertain if she is of sound mind. What she was saying on live camera does not look like sentiments from a normal police officer,” he said-
On Friday last week, the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said he ordered a mental examination of female cop citing that she flouted laid down regulations on airing her grievances.
“The woman’s frustrations ought to have been channeled through private avenues. As a police officer, she shouldn’t have gone public to express her anger. I have given instructions for the officer to be taken to hospital [for mental examination]. We are managing the matter without raising hullabaloo about it,” IG Mutyambai has said.
The cop lamented that she is never assigned duties that have allowances. Her video came after she was reportedly pulled out of a contingent of police officers picked to man the national exams.
