Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday shocked mourners when he claimed Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth had another wife known as Ann Thumbi.
During the memorial service of the MP at Moi Girls School, Sonko said Okoth met Ann when she was working as a nurse with the Sonko Rescue Team, adding the couple were blessed with a son.
He went ahead to state that he nominated Ann to Nairobi County Assembly following Okoth's request and asked the legislator's family to recognize the kid.
"Let me talk the truth: Ken has left behind a son known as Okoth. I do remember in 2017 he asked me to nominate his second wife as Nairobi MCA and because of the respect and our friendship, I nominated Ann Thumbi to Nairobi County Assembly. All I am asking on behalf of Ken's son is for his recognition," Sonko said, adding he also have a second wife.
He made the remarks in the presence of Okoth's known wife, Monica Ambrosini-Okoth, who is an Italian national.
On her behalf, Monica describe Okoth as a passionate husband and said despite his demise she will always treat Kibra as her home.
"Being Ken’s wife was the greatest honor of my life, he was the most intelligent, passionate, eloquent and most wonderful person I have ever met. We’ve been on so many adventures, so many places together but his heart was always here," she said.
"I’m going to continue coming to Kibra, continue coming to your houses because this is my home; I truly feel at home here in Kibra," Monica added.
