In the race which came to a climax on Thursday, the former footballer sought the seat on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket, but emerged second, after ODM candidate Bernard Okoth alias Imran.

Weighing in on the race on KTN, Sunday, Bichachi observed that he finds it right that Kibra residents rejected Mariga, given that he is not a registered voter and has never even voted.

"I'm very happy that people who couldn't vote for themselves didn't win. I'm a supporter of good leadership principles and I believe that anyone running for MP should at least have an experience of how a voting booth looks like," he said.

He pointed out that this does not make him a supporter of the ODM party, but a god leadership supporter, who believes that one should have experience in a job they are seeking.

Mariga, who has never voted in his life, did not cast a vote for himself, given that he is not a registered voter in the constituency.

He also noted that while he was happy by the outcome of the poll, where 24 aspirants faced off, he remains unhappy with the cases of violence that were reported on the voting day.

"Of course I am not happy that there was violence in that particular election," he added, in reference to the incidences where some notable politicians were harassed by residents.

Among the victims were former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, whose assault has been blamed on ODM supoorters.
