The National Police Service Commission (NSPC) has announced that the performance of NHIF and medical services providers to officers in the National Police Service and the Kenya Prison Service will be reviewed.
Making the announcement on Friday on its Twitter, the commission said that the move is aimed at ensuring that the police officers and those that they leave behind get quality services.
"NPSC will review the performance of all insurance NHIF & Medical Services Providers for all our employees in the National Police Service and Kenya Prison Service officers including benefits deserving to widows, widowers & orphaned children of our fallen Police Officers, " the NPSC's wrote.
NSPC sent out a warning to service providers, saying that those providers whose services fell below the standards would have their services discontinued.
It said that the commission would work very closely with the Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i to ensure that officers get quality services.
"NPSC will work with @FredMatiangi Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government in ensuring those Service Providers offering inefficient, below value & substandard services are discontinued from swindling our hardworking Police&Prison Officers, " reads the communication further.
