Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairman John Mbadi has reiterated that the Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga is not eyeing the position of the Prime Minister as perceived by most leaders.
Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Mbadi said that the narrative that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce recommended for the creation of the position for the sake of Raila is misguided and ill-timed.
The lawmaker argued that Raila has once served Kenya as Prime Minister, adding that he cannot eye the same position in 2022. He alluded that Raila's major aim is to have a united nation and not President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession.
"The moment BBI started its work these guys assumed that a position will be created of Prime Minister and it belongs to Raila Odinga. These guys never imagined that Raila can go for any other thing part from Prime Minister. I don't know for what reason. Raila Odinga was a Prime Minister from 2008 t0 2013 and I don't think he is planning of becoming a Prime Minister. So when you hear Moses Kuria talks that ODM wants they are still in that mindset. They still have that conservative mindset so to speak that ODM is only interested in the position of Prime Minister," he said in part.
Mbadi also asked leaders opposed to the report to jump onto the bandwagon for the sake of peace and unity of purpose. Mbadi further said that the BBI marks the dawn of a new era in the democracy of this nation.
