Already, a number of notable Kenyans, including COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli have declared that the president is too young to retire, and should not be expected to leave power.

Wahome now says that there is a need for Uhuru to come out and personally address the claims, and either confirm or deny them.

"Even though the persons saying may be expressing their opinions and views, I think his excellency, who we respect a lot, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, should actually respond to some of those issues," the MP said on Thursday in an interview with Citizen TV.

She said that judging by the status of the people making the remarks, who also include nominated Senator Beth Mugo, a relative of Uhuru, it will be very hard to ignore them.

"Were they coming from just anywhere maybe Kenyans would not give them attention," she added.

Former Kwanza MP Noah Wekesa has also made such remarks, as well as former Gatanga MP and close confidant of Uhuru David Murathe.

However, to create the Prime Minister post, the country will have to go through a referendum to amend the constitution.
