Nyamira cops are probing an incident whereby an aged woman was killed over what is termed as ritual killings.
Agnes Kwamboka aged 60 from Nyamira South was found murdered 50 metres from her home.
"The body was lying on ground and beside it were things which led us to believe that it was a killing related to witchcraft or some form of rituals and currently we are narrowing down on possible perpetrators of the cold blood murder," said Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba, as quoted by Standard.
Mariba called upon immediate arrest and judgement for all believed to have been behind the heinous attack.
Among the suspicious things found beside the corpse were two dead mice, two stones, brooms, a pair of white socks, a dress, empty sacks, a black tracksuit and a red pen.
According to Mariba, the late's husband Peter Nyagwachi, narrated to police how his wife was picked from the house on Sunday 3 am on witchcraft claims by people well known to him.
Bundo village clan elder James Orutwa told Standard how he went to respond to wailings from the crime scene, only to land his eyes on the corpse, which, "From a close look bore multiple injuries on the left side of the head, and a deep superficial cut on the left leg."
The County Security boss promised that everything possible was being done to ensure that culprits are brought to book.
