The man reportedly took his life by hanging himself on a tree in a bush near his home on Friday, and was only found hours later by a search team led by his wife.

The incident was confirmed by North Kanyabala Sub Location Assistant Chief Rose Adhiambo, who said that the deceased was aged 66.

She added that he left his home at about 5PM, prompting his wife to put up a search team upon growing worried, considering that he did not come back after darkness fell.

"His wife became worried that it was getting dark and her husband had not returned home. She decided to look for him and sadly found he had committed suicide,” she said.

The administrator noted that before taking his life, the man who worked in Nairobi did not show any sign of stress, with the police yet to establish the causes behind the suicide.

"The man used to work in Nairobi. He recently visited his rural home and did not exhibit any signs of stress," she added.

Ms Adhiambo noted that the body of the deceased is lying at the Homa Bay County Referral Hospital morgue, pending a pathological test as part of the investigations.
