The team through a statement on Wednesday led by UN Resident Coordinator Siddharth Chatterjee, said they stand in solidarity with victims, and termed the act of terror and hate as outrageous when it targets the innocent and unarmed civilian more so the children.
It added that the killing of civilians is against the international humanitarian law and urged the armed fighters to respect the rule of law and stop targeting civilians and infrastructures, more so the schools.
"Key services and programmes, delivered by the government and other partners, for children and communities should not be targets of armed combat," read the statement.
The UN further lamented of the dwindling standard of education in the region owing to continued terror attacks, and was aware of the trauma the schools staff members have endured, noting that terrorism should be allowed to interfere with the children growth and development in region.
The organization committed its readiness to work with the National government and the county governments to counter acts of terrorism through the implementation of the UN Global counter terrorism strategy.
"We commit to working with other stakeholders as we pursue the UN value of making children’s human and civil rights a lived reality for all children in Kenya," read a statement.
