The results of a suspected Coronavirus case admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) have been finally released.
On Friday, Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki said that the patient tested negative.
The results come hours after Kenya Airways cancelled all flights to China because of the deadly scare of the disease. The Ministry of health had sent the results to South Africa for confirmation before they were made public.
“Results carried out on the Case in Isolation have been sent to South Africa for further analysis to have a clear guideline on how we can move on once we established that our results are correct,” she said.
“Our systems are working, and we have capacity and infrastructure to fight Coronavirus,” the CS added.
Kenyans living in China have been in fear after the outbreak of the disease.
On Friday, World Health Organization (WHO) declared the disease a global emergence. The confirmed cases of patients who have died from the disease are 213.
Several countries have issued travel advisories against its citizens after the disease proved to be uncontrollable.
Kenya had contemplated asking its citizens living in Wuhan to return back into the country before the government its mind despite increased spread of the virus.
