Celebrated Ivorian footballer Didier Drogba is planning to visit Kenya to meet Samburu girls.
The former Chelsea striker on Thursday took to Twitter where he revealed that he is eager to visit Kenya to visit his children at Samburu Girls Foundation.
The Samburu Girls Foundation was founded by women rights campaigner, Josephine Kulea. The foundation is celebrated for saving young women, or rather girls, from illegal Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and forced marriage, and Drogba is one one of the people who have been contributing to the foundation.
In a video the footballer shared, the girls were thanking him for the support he has been offering them
"Hi Drogba, thank you for supporting Samburu Girls Foundation. Welcome to Kenya, we love you," the girls said in the video.
Drogba in his caption to the video said he was eager to meet the girls in person very soon. He, however, did not reveal when he is coming to Kenya.
He also lauded the foundation founder for the great job she is doing and urged her to continue dedicating her heart for the welfare of the children.
"Can’t wait to come visit you my Samburu girls @josephinekulea Can’t thank you enough for dedicating your heart for these beautiful girls. Keep up the great work #empoweringwomen #africa #together," Drogba tweeted.
Samburu Girls Foundation was set up back in 2012 and up to date, more than 1000 girls have been saved.
