The preliminary results of the census exercise will be out in three months.
This has been revealed by Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yattani, who is also the acting Treasury cabinet secretary.
He, however said, that the complete results would be out in 6 months.
He spoke to members of the press on Saturday.
"Three months after the conclusion of the enumeration exercise, we will have the preliminary information. The complete results will be complete in 6 months, " the CS said.
CS Yattani said that he hadsent proposals to the Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary to consider declaring August, 26 a national holiday.
He said that declaring the day a national holiday would help Kenyans to be enumerated from the comfort of their homes.
"We have also forwarded our proposals to the cabinet secretary interior to liase with his excellency the president fro considering to declare the 26 of August a national holiday to give the citizens of this country opportunity to be enumerated from the comfort of their homes, " he added.
The CS confirmed that the bulk of pre-enumeration activities including training of enumeration officials and public advocacy had been completed.
