Born in 1928, Mwariama was one of the brave Kenyans who out their life on the line for the sake of the nation and the next generation, though he survived the fight.

Born Musa M'Kirigwa Muchiri, Mwariama fought alongside other freedom fighters who operated in the forests of the Eastern Kenya, specifically in Meru county.

When the white man accepted defeat and handed over power to Kenyans, he was among the few freedom fighters who were warded for their efforts.

Consequently, founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta allocated him a 15-acre piece of land in Kiambogo village in Timau, North Imenti.

Surprisingly, his spirit of risking his life for others did not end with the Mau Mau wars, and he would later die from venom complications while trying to save a friend.

Mwariama died aged 61, after sucking venom from the leg of a friend whom he had visited in Ukambani (lower Eastern Kenya).

However, the he was given the land, his family led by his widow Jacinta Kabika is still languishing in poverty.
