Farmers in Machakos county have been urged to seek advice from agricultural officers on crop pest control.

Speaking on Tuesday Kivaa ward member of county assembly Justus Kiteng'u said that farmers are battling fall armyworms in some areas of the county and should consult to know what pesticides to use.

The MCA urged farmers not to assume the with since it may cost them their produce.

"This worm is dangerous, if not controlled earlier farmers may have no harvest at all. Let's not assume this worm instead seek help and advice in ways to control it, " Kiteng'u said.

Kiteng'u urged the county government through the Ministry of Agriculture to find ways of doing away with the worm that has been giving farmers sleepless nights every planting season.

He intimated the need for the government to provide farmers with the pesticide that will finish the worm.

 "The county government should do something, the worm has been troubling our farmers for the longest time ever, it's not good for them to be crying to the government every time they plant because of the pest," he said.
