Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has faulted parliament for going on recess at a time when there is a stalemate over the Division of Revenue Bill.
Mutua clarified that he has paid all the county government workers in his administration before he launched an attack against the lawmakers.
Mutua, who also doubles as Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement Leader said that the parliament should have resolved the matter before going on recess.
“I wish to clarify that my Government has processed & transferred salaries to the accounts of all Machakos Gov’t employees. There is no strike in Machakos. It is quite SELFISH & IMPROPER for parliament to go on recess before solving the revenue quagmire. Wananchi are suffering!” he said through his official twitter account.
The remarks come after Council of Governors asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in the stalemate with the parliament over the allocation of funds to the county governments.
The governors appealed to the commander in chief of the armed forces to ensure that the matter is resolved with immediate effect.
“In this case, we have two bulls fighting – the Senate and the National Assembly. It is us the governors feeling the pinch. You are the referee, you have all the power to determine who wins,” Mr Wycliiff Oparanya, who the chairman of COG told President Kenyatta.
