UK High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey has joined leaders who have paid tribute to Safaricom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Collymore who died on early Monday morning.
Hailey eulogised Collymore as a leader who has contributed immensely in changing and transforming lives in Kenya.
He said the United Kingdom was standing with the deceased's family.
"Rest in peace Bob Collymore. Your contribution to Kenya has been immense. Through your leadership, @SafaricomPLC has transformed lives across this country. All your friends @UKinKenya stand with your family on this sad day. #ripbobcollymore," he tweeted.
Collymore was announced dead at the age of 61 after a long battle with cancer. The successful CEO has left behind a wife and four children.
His body will be cremated on Tuesday.
Safaricom Board Chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a said the burial ceremony will be open only to the deceased’s family members.
However, he added that during the course of the week, a memorial service will be held.
“There will be a private interment process tomorrow but, later on in the week, hopefully, Thursday or Friday, there will be a memorial service for all those who knew and cared for Bob,” Ng’ang’a stated.
