Speaking during an interview on K24 on Sunday, Mudavadi said that he has only been lured out of the race for power in 2013.

He affirmed that he is a man of his word and cannot be tricked as easily as many people think about him.

The former Vice President also said that President Uhuru Kenyatta referred to him as demons ('Madimoni') after he rooted for party nominations to decide the presidential runner.

"I think Uhuru later had a personal reflection on the 2013 plan. The demon comment was a political gesture, I don't think he believes in demons," he Mudavadi said during the interview shared on Twitter.

He added: "When I say I have been cheated out of the presidency, some people are exaggerating the issues. It was only in 2013 when that happened."

During the same interview, Mudavadi defended his new autobiography, Soaring Above the Storms of Passion, saying it is not all about lamentations as some leaders have made it appear.

He insisted that he only uses the book to explain the way things are in the real sense and not lamenting about his past in terms of politics.

"My book [Soaring Above the Storms of Passion] is not a book of lamentations. This is a book that is an honest reflection of the issues we went through," he said.
