The Garissa Township lawmaker was once a member of the party and ally of party leader Raila Odinga, before decamping to Deputy President William Ruto's United Republican Party.

Speaking on Monday, he lauded the party as one of the strongest in Kenya, while weighing-in on ODM's exit from Orange House, a premise it has called its headquarters for over 12 years.

The vocal politician noted that he left the party due to intolerance, but admitted that it remains a major political side in the nation, alongside the ruling Jubilee party.

“ODM and Jubilee are the strongest parties in Kenya now. I was a member and I have memories of its former headquarters. But some of us left because of intolerance," he said.

Duale called upon the party leadership to come up with better ways of solving conflicts, and holding primaries without violence.

On his part, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi said the house remains a major treasure to the party, terming it the house that hid them as they plotted their political plans.

"I have fond memories of Orange House, as it has been the seat of momentous changes in the country’s politics. This is where we plotted, initiated and managed all our politics,” he said.

The remarks came as the party moved over to its new Sh180 million premises in Lavington, Nairobi.

This was after ending its tenancy at Orange House which is owned by Raila's former aide Caroli Omondi.
