Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale has come to the help of the former footballer Macdonald Mariga after IEBC invalidated his candidature.
As Mariga was entrusted with a Jubilee certificate and his Jubilee counterparts hailing his prowess and saying he is the right bet for Kibra Constituents, IEBC came out with a report saying Mariga was not a registered voter hence invalidating his candidature.
This came as a rude shock to Mariga's supporters while a sigh to ODM supporters. However, angry Khalwale said that he had evidence that Mariga is a voter and IEBC had no powers of invalidating Mariga's candidature except the court.
"Would like to request you to realize that we're the senior-most agent of IEBC. I have evidence that my candidate is a voter with IEBC and he has an elector's number," Khalwale said as quoted by KTN.
Khalwale also mentioned that he has experience and has taken part in the petition process in court. Such that, it is unlawful to deter a Kenyan from conducting a constitutional exercise. He, therefore, said that they had no mandate cancelling Mariga's candidature.
Except the 'fresh headache' he is facing whereby his fate is not yet determined, Mariga would fave Bernard Okoth of ODM, Khamisi Butich of Ford People and Eliud Owen if the ANC in the forthcoming BL elections in Kibra.
