The supremacy battle between the union and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has continued to take center stage in the education sector amid fear of a looming crisis.

Knut Secretary-General Wilson Sossion faulted the halting of the pay increment for 103,624 teachers by the commission, adding that the move is not biased but also ill-timed.

He said teachers have been committed to their work and denying them increment is not a good idea altogether.

The teachers were expecting to receive their phase three of the Sh54 billion 2017- 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) before the commission dropped the shocker.

Sossion is now demanding that TSC must correct the same with immediate effect.

He claims TSC used the wrong information to make the changes, which he added will affect the education sector in a negative manner unless something is done over the same as soon as possible.

"All these wars the TSC is creating are meant to kill and dismantle Knut, which will never happen,” Sossion said as quoted by Nation.

He said the introduction of two payrolls for teachers is with no doubt a recipe for chaos in the sector.

Sossion noted that teachers could down their tools if the changes are not implemented before schools open.

"If things don’t change, we shall call you (press) daily… TSC you have an opportunity to correct this mess. Which teacher will resume duty in September when his/her salary has been cut, tell me, that’s warning enough. If this engagement will not work, Prof Magoha (Education CS) your programs will be affected. It’s very easy to go on strike," Sossion said as quoted by Citizen.
