Former Kakamega Senator Dr Boni Khalwale has told off individuals who accuse leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto of opposing Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
According to the vocal politician, the group is not opposed to the BBI but wants amendments that would uplift the economy made to it.
Khalwale tweeted while responding to a Citizen TV report that had indicated that he was hitting out on government for harassing them on allegations that they were opposing the initiative.
The former Ikolomani MP who is also a close ally to the DP lambasted those who had referred to them as 'anti-BBI'.
He alleged that Ruto's loyalists were fully behind the report but wanted transformative economic reforms to be addressed by it before being implemented.
"Attempts to brand us anti-BBI is yours (ni yenu). We are supporting BBI but our priority is our economy," noted Khalwale in the tweet.
On Saturday, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa, ODM leader Raila Odinga, Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula led a Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) consultative meeting at Bukhungu stadium in Lurambi Kakamega county.
Leaders allied to Ruto led by Dr Boni Khalwale attempted to hold a parallel function on the same day in Mumias but the police thwarted it.
