Detectives on Friday arrested three people accused robbery with violence.
The trio, Samuel Kanyoro, Anyone Ngunjiri and Samuel Rokiring in the company of others allegedly stole Sh800,000 and five smartphones from a business lady at Ng'arua area in Laikipia County on Thursday night.
DCI on Friday revealed that the gang waylaid the lady who operates M-Pesa, KCB and Equitel mobile banking while on her way home together with her sister.
The men who were armed with guns shot in the air and took the bag which contained cash and the phones before disappearing into a maize plantation.
"The lady who operates an Mpesa, KCB & Equitel Mobile Banking Agency while in her sister's company were accosted by the gang armed with two AK47 Rifles who fired in the air before snatching the bag containing those properties as the duo was heading home. They then disappeared into a maize plantation after which the victims raised alarm & the detectives mounted a manhunt," read the post in part.
"The recovered phones included one used for Equitel agency banking with a float of over Sh2 million in the owner's account."
Police are still searching for the rest of the gang which is believed to have disappeared with the remaining cash.
The suspects are in police custody awaiting arraignment on court on Monday.
