Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has affirmed that she will not vote for Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
In an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Millie said that she will not be cowed by threats from leaders allied to the DP to change her tune as far as the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta is concerned.
While responding to remarks by Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei, Millie said that she is ready to face the music if that is what it means if she will not stand with the Kalenjin political kingpin in 2022.
She said that the remarks of the senator are unfortunate and ill-motivated.
"I think at this point and based on where history and where we have come from when you start making such utterances; it is actually not acceptable at all. First of all, everyone has a right to choose whoever they want and to vote for whoever they want."
"For me, for instance, I have never said who I want to vote for in 2022 but based on that statement alone and I said it on my Facebook and based on my lineage and where I come from, we do not react very well to threat so I will not vote for the deputy president in 2022 and I will wait to see how he will deal with me," she said.
Ruto is considered as one of the potential successors of President Kenyatta when he leaves power after 2022.
