A contingent of police officers was on Friday deployed to the Lee Funeral Home where the remains of the late Ken Okoth are being preserved pending burial plans.
Okoth who succumbed to colon cancer on Friday was at the time of his death the Member of Parliament for Kibra constituency, a position he has held for the last seven years.
There were sounds of wailing and screams as his supporters demonstrated their pain after being informed about the MP's demise, as the police stood guard to bar them from accessing the morgue.
This was in line with a request from his family members who have since demanded that members of the public be kept off, requesting that there should not be a public viewing of the body.
Messages of condolences continue trickling in, with President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga having sent theirs.
Okoth who had just returned to the country from France was taken to the Nairobi Hospital on Thursday, where his condition worsened before he passed on, reports Citizen Digital.
Okoth who was elected into office on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket died aged 41.
