Eldoret High court has sentenced a man who killed his wife and son using an axe in Marakwet East constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The accused, Collins Biwott is alleged to have committed the crime on February 25, 2013, in Kipsaina village.
Appearing before Justice Stephen Githinji of the High Court in Eldoret on Tuesday, Biwott admitted to having committed the crime out of anger and was very remorseful for his actions. He also noted that he has reformed over the time that he has been in demand.
"Your honour, I am remorseful and I have since reformed for sins that I committed against my wife and stepson. I have now changed for the period that I have served in the remand prison,” he stated.
“Your honor, I promise to be a good citizen once I leave prison so that I can restart my life and give love and care to my children,” he added.
The suspect recalled that on the fateful day, he returned home drunk and found his wife attending to her daily chores.
It was then that a heated argument about his stepson ensued and he rushed to the kitchen, picked an axe and hacked her thrice.
He then turned to his stepson (7) and hacked struck him in the head.
