The two shared a platform for the first time in as many years during the burial of billionaire entrepreneur Stephen Mogeni. Matiang'i represented President Uhuru Kenyatta while Bosire stood for Raila Odinga.

For years, Bosire, a confidant of Raila, has been a chief critic of Matiang'i, often accusing him of breaking the law at the expense of impressing his employer.

And in 2017, Bosire accused Matiang'i of orchestrating his Kitutu Masaba MP defeat to Shadrack Mose, a move that had kept the two at loggerheads.

But in an interview on Wednesday, Bosire declined to reveal his brief discussion with Matiang'i which lasted for one minute as other politicians gazed on.

"I had a one minute conservation with him at the funeral. What he told me isn't something that I can share for now. But we all need unity," he said.

The surprise meeting could change political landscape in Gusii region given that the two command considerable following from the region.

Former Manga MCA Peter Maroro says the unity between the two will affect the ongoing grouping of some politicians and even dictate voting in 2022.

"If they work together, some people who were riding on Matiang'i support will have to go to the drawing board. It won't be easy. Matiang'i will have to be neutral."
