President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that he will not tolerate betting firms operating against the regulations of the country.
Speaking at the 60th anniversary celebrations of CITAM Church in Karen, Uhuru said that he will ensure that the firms comply with betting regulations as he seeks to leave behind a legacy before he completes his second and final term in office.
The commander in chief of the armed forces said that the government will continue with the crackdown against betting firms which are not operating in line with the betting laws.
“So long as they are operating within Kenya, and are guided by the laws of the land, they should give Caesar what belongs to Caesar. You [MPs present in church] should help me do it, I cannot rein in on them alone; [the law doesn’t allow],” said President Kenyatta.
He also asked betting firms against issuing the government with threats after their licenses were withdrawn.
The head of state affirmed that the threats will not take the gambling to the next level. He called upon stakeholders in the betting sector to support his government to realise its ambitions.
