Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has claimed that she supports 'Punguza Mizigo' initiative because it proposes devolution of more resources to counties and trimming of expenditure on governance issues.
In a post on her official Facebook page, Omanga noted that she fully supports the proposal.
According to her the initiative is pro-devolution and against unnecessary spending on governance.
Furthermore, she asserted that the proposal would boost infrastructural projects and reduce the rate of unemployment being witnessed in the country.
"I support # PunguzaMzigobill2019 because it's all about taking more resources to the counties and reducing government expenditure. Allocating more to counties will reduce the unemployment rate by a very big margin as well as improve the state of infrastructure," read part of the post.
Omanga went ahead to say that he does not agree with the alternative initiative fronted by other leaders, whose aim was to create more government leadership posts for selfish leaders who want to sustain their dwindling careers.
"Therefore, I highly disagree with the other way (OngezaMzigo) of creating government positions for a few individuals who feel entitled to everything in Kenya," observed Omanga.
She observed that Kenyans were poised to steer their country to greater heights through the initiative.
IEBC approved one million signatures for a referendum proposal submitted by the Thirdway Alliance, which aimed at changing the governance structure in the country, with an objective of reducing government spending and increasing the allocation of funds to grassroots among other contemplated changes.
The bill has been submitted to county assemblies for debate.
