Kipkenyo ward MCA Hillary Rono now wants the County Commissioner to beef up security at Kipkaren Estate after Eldoret politician cum businessman David Letting alias Kokwas was released by Eldoret court.
Kokwas together with Brinan Kiprotich Lagat, Denis Baraza, Patrick Lagat, and Cornelius were on Sunday arrested after residents stormed Yamumbi police post to demand the arrest of members of a dreaded gang which they said has been terrorizing them for quite some time.
The five were, however on Wednesday released by an Eldoret court after pleading not guilty of the charges of creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Rono said that the release of the five is a threat to the security of residents.
“We are calling on the police led by the county commissioner to beef up security in Kipkaren and should always monitor the five since they are a security threat,’ said the Kipkenyo MCA.
“I am also calling upon the Langas, Yamumbi and Pioneer police to be on the look and ensure that security of residents is guaranteed,” added Rono.
He, however, revealed that together with the area MP Oscar Sudi, County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa and other local leaders have organized a security meeting on Monday in Kipkaren Estate where residents will give their views on the insecurity in the estate.
Rono called on residents to come in large numbers since their views were important in improving the security of residents.
