For months, there have been wrangles within Rift Valley region, with politicians led by former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi pulling opposite direction.

The two have been leading anti-Ruto campaigns, with Elgeyo-Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, Moiben MP Silas Tiren and other leaders joining the team.

But at Kericho Golf Club on Wednesday, Dr Ruto assured the community that he has done everything at the national level and he just needs their input to win in 2022.

"Don't worry. Everything is on course. I have done all there is to be done. Things are good for me at the national level. It is upon you to have faith in me," Ruto said in the local dialect.

"Let's work together as a team to deliver. Do not be worried when you don't see me around. Let me fix everything up there then we shall come home," he added.

The Deputy President had just presided over the opening of the annual conference for constitutional commissions and independent offices that started yesterday in Kericho.

Ruto's allies who accompanied him, including Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, and MPs Nelson Koech, Kiptergech Mutai and Sylvanus Maritim, said they would campaign vigorously across the country for his 2022 bid.

Since the exit of retired President Daniel Moi in 2002, Dr Ruto has controlled the region, delivering for both Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta in the last three polls.
