Residents from Kangoro village in Kirinyaga County on Saturday woke up to a horrifying scene after the body of a 62-year-old man was found dangling from a tree.
His relatives say he went missing on Thursday. He was working as a night guard at a local primary school in the area.
"My father just disappeared but we were shocked when we received information that he was found hanging from a tree," John Murage, son to the deceased told Nation.
The family of the deceased speculated that he took away his life over a Sh31,800 debt.
"My father had, prior to his demise, appeared disturbed. He used to talk of debts he had not paid, and even at one time was summoned to Kagio Police Station for questioning," Murage added.
Weru, a relative also recalled how the late suffered humiliation by the police during his summoning.
"He disappeared soon after he was grilled and we demand thorough investigations into his death," noted Weru.
Kirinyaga West Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi revealed that had been launched, calling upon the late's family to exercise patience.
