According to the group, their county representatives were not fulfilling their mandate as required by the law. Most specifically, the group had not been supplied with resources that would empower them economically.

Hivisasa Kisii based writer Geoffrey Makori covered the story. The writer managed to publish the story after the group of people living with disability reached out to him.

The writer held an interview with the affected people who expressed their dissatisfaction with the current leaders. The group under the General Gusii Governance watch accused the chairman, Joseph Nyakebako of neglecting them since assuming office in 2017.

The writer reached out to Nyakebako who dismissed the allegations.

Following the story, Makori shared it on various platforms, something that forced the county government to intervene. The county worked on modalities to help the group hold fresh elections.

On 10th October, the group held fresh elections where Fredrick Ochieng Mweresa was elected as the chairman. In his acceptance speech, Mweresa thanked Hivisasa for highlighting their plight, hence the change of guard.
