Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng'eno has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly ordering arrests and prosecution of his critics from Central Kenya and other regions.
In a video shared on Facebook by Arusei Gilbert, Ng'eno claimed that he would send Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna to tell the head of state to stop getting annoyed if his support base shifts.
According to the legislator, Sifuna should also tell the president to desist from ordering arrests of leaders from his region who do not show fanatical support for him and his political initiatives.
The vocal MP alleged that he, together with other like-minded elected leaders have a right to shift their allegiance from President Kenyatta to somebody else in 2022.
He urged Kenyatta not to employ witch hunt through unlawful arrests at them just because they no longer support him politically.
"He should desist from ordering arrests of people. Even me I will shift my base (Aache kufunga watu. Hata mimi nita shift base yangu). I was once Uhuru's supporter at some point and I will shift and he should not arrest me (na asinifunge) and he should not arrest people if they reject him (na asifunge watu, wakimkataa)," said Ng'eno.
Ng'eno further urged the president to retire in 2022 when his term comes to an end.
Gatundu South MP who has been President Kenyatta's critic was arrested on Friday for attacking a woman in December last year and released on Saturday on a cash bail of Sh 20,000 after the court ordered that he be freed.
