Police in Wajir have arrested 36 illegal immigrants believed to be from Ethiopia.
The foreigners aged between 19 and 35 were arrested on Sunday around 7 am in Habaswein, 10 kilometers from Hadado town.
County police commander Stephen Ng'etich said the men were arrested following a tip-off from residents that there were some foreigners in the area.
Ng'etich added that when the officers arrived, the foreigners attempted to flee but police managed to arrest them.
He said the 36 foreigners will be arraigned in court any time from today, Monday to be charged for being in the country illegally.
The police boss asked residents to volunteer information to police whenever they notice a foreigner is in the country illegally.
"Foreigners being in the country poses a security threat. I urge members of the public to help police arrest such people to curb any cases of insecurity that may be caused by the foreigners," he said.
