The county boss had refused to reinstate over 500 teachers after the expiry of their contracts and 700 others were also almost running out of contract.

Assembly Speaker Moffat Teya, through the deliberations by MCAs, wrote a letter a fortnight ago demanding reinstatement of the affected teachers.

"Failure to do that, we shall not debate and vet nominated people to the chief officer positions. We shall also start impeachment process," he wrote.

The letter sparked controversy, with Nyagarama holding a series of meetings in a bid to solve the stalemate. He also reportedly discussed how to hit back.

But on Monday, County Secretary Eric Onchana said the standoff has been solved, adding that all the teachers will have the contracts renewed.

"We have solved the matter. All the 1200 teachers will sign new contracts. Those who haven't been paid will also have their dues cleared this month," he said.

The latest development will greatly rescue deteriorating education sector with reports indicating that that hundreds of learners have not been able to do most assignments for third term.

Nyagarama is also said to have sacked only 145 teachers whose academic credentials were suspected following scrutiny by authorities.
