President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned Cabinet secretaries against engaging in politics at the expense of development.
In a statement delivered by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, the head of state said that there is no room for empty talk when his legacy is at stake.
Matiang'i, who spoke on Wednesday at Kenya School of Government (KSG) in Kabete, Kiambu, said that the President wants nothing but performance.
The CS emphasized that Uhuru wants to see his team on the ground and not rallies.
He also reminded the newly appointed members of the cabinet not to get lost in political rallies when they are supposed to be working on his legacy.
“You ought to be fully aware of all of the Presidential Directives and National Flagship Programs to which we have all dedicated significant energy, time and resources,” the CS said in part, as quoted by Star.
Matiang'i said that the President opted to include the young people in his government because they have the impetus to spearhead his development agenda.
The warning comes at a the backdrop of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rallies.
The rallies have led to the rise of political temperatures in the country with Deputy President William Ruto accusing ODM leader Raila Odinga of early campaigns.
